Revamping old furniture is always an adventure from start to finish. This chalk paint refurnish project was definitely rewarding when seeing the final results.
This is my before and after to a DIY chalk paint Storage Console! An easy fix to an old piece.
Painting is not my strong suit but I’ve recently been obsessed with chalk painted furniture. It give a more textured and rustic look which enhances the imperfections of the piece. Not that it looks unfinished but more so unique and full of character!
This storage console was the very first piece of furniture I bought for myself when I moved out of my moms house. I had just got my first apartment and was ready to pick out something functional but to my liking since I was spending my own money on it.
My decor in my first apartment was more moody and dark with contrasts of colors, which is why this worked so well when I first bought it. My taste has definitely changed over the years but I still wasn’t ready to part with the piece that has now followed me through 4 different moves.
Years later, here I am living with my boyfriend in another small apartment and decided I wanted to spruce up the room by painting this storage unit white. We had just painted the living room walls a light gray and the black just did not work with the overall aesthetic.
I found this chalk white paint on Amazon that was very affordable and I only needed 1 can (1 Quart) so it worked out perfect. Color is Linen White.
It took about 3- 4 coats to get it right but the good thing is that is dries extremely fast. It took about 2 days for me to finish but I also worked full days at the office and did this on my down time at the end of the night, which don’t get me wrong was exhausting!
I’d say it’s definitely worth it, especially when you’re sweating your ass off in a 90 degree heat wave to get it done.
Overall, this DIY chalk paint project was a success and I’m very happy with the outcome. I recommend the chalk paint option for smaller furniture or anything that you want to have look more vintage.
I hope this post inspires your to give more life to your old furniture that you aren’t ready to part ways with just yet.
