This post is all about different and unique wall decor ideas to utilize empty or small spaces. These are some favorites that keep any room interesting.
It can be difficult to find cute wall decor ideas for small spaces. I’ve been experimenting with different options to see what works best and I loved a few that are shared in this post.
These wall decor ideas are simple and affordable if your looking for budget friendly items. These options are more of a rustic and modern farmhouse but you can create your own aesthetic with alternative options or unique finds.
- Shelves & Trays:
Small spaces that offer some height are perfect for a small shelf that can hold several decor pieces. Place a tray as the backdrop to give it some depth and then add your “fluff” pieces. I like to incorporate different height items to balance out the visual of the shelf especially when its higher up.
I kept it simple with a candle, some faux greenery and a tea box, which also works as functional storage. This shelf is located in the kitchen which is perfect to grab from whenever I’m in the mood to make some tea.

2. Ladders:
A ladder works perfect for a longer wall space such as a hallway. The sections in between are so fun to change out depending on the seasons. You can do so much like adding lights, flowers, smaller signs, trinkets, etc. It can act as a shelf depending on the ladder you find.
Another option is to place hooks in between the spacing and hang smaller items on the wall or picture frames. The ladder just adds to any versatility of decorating.

3. Baskets:
A popular trend lately has been the wall baskets. I’ve seen these all over the place and love how you can make different configurations depending on your wall space. I have a small space in the bedroom that I added to along with a small decor sign. You can definitely balance these out but I tend to like the odd shapes mixing circles and rectangles for a more unique visual, imperfect.

4. Window Pane:
Another hallway space option is a window pane. I love the placement of this wall decor because this spot gets so much light as if an actual window should be here. I added photos underneath the glass for a personal touch and I’m obsessed with the rustic frame.
Another cute idea for this is you could put your babies handprints/footprints painted on the glass. Even pet paw prints could work. I think options are endless but the personal affect is key to make it feel like home.
